Your Hosts
Archie and Anne Hunter look forward to welcoming you to their home and assure you that you will experience truly genuine Scottish and Irish hospitality.
Archie was born and brought up on the surrounding farm where his family continues to work the land almost 100 years after his grandfather first came from Ayrshire. Archie recently designed and developed an outdoor timber “pod” which he has called the Armadilla (www.armadilla.co.uk) He and his son Ross have now developed a range of units based on the Armadilla including campsite accommodation, garden offices, studios, treatment rooms and much more.
Long before the appearance of the Da Vinci Code, Archie had had an interest in local history and particularly the medieval period when the Knights Templar were active in the area. He has an extensive collection of books on the subject and you are welcome to peruse these during your stay.
Anne was born in Northern Ireland, grew up in Dublin and spent over twenty years teaching in London before coming to live in Scotland. For twelve years she ran her own business, the Edinburgh au Pair Agency, placing au Pairs with Scottish families.
Anne loves meeting our guests and when she’s not involved with the B&B can be found with her “head in a book”, at an evening class or off visiting the local nursing home with our Therapet dog, Molly.
We are a family of dog lovers and have two Labradors; Molly (the therapet), Tess and a Lucas terrior called Saffy who is the boss! Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to provide accommodation for guests’ pets but if this is a requirement please gets in touch as Archie’s brother has “pets welcome” self catering accommodation nearby and we'll gladly put you in touch.
We will happily advise guest on tours and itineraries and recommend sites to see and restaurants suited to your preferences. We have a number of books and DVDs on Rosslyn Chapel which you might find useful to look at before your visit the chapel.
