Surrounding Countryside

As can be seen from the above aerial photograph Orchard House (marked with yellow arrow) is in lovely tree lined countryside some 300 metres south of the village of Rosewell (At the top of the picture).

The buildings dead centre of the photograph are Whitehill House and associated outbuildings. The 9 hole golf course surrounding Whitehill House is a challenging par 70 and rounds can be booked by arrangement.

There is a wide variety of birds and animal life in the surrounding countryside including badgers and deer that can often be seen grazing in the adjacent fields.

There are numerous tracks and woodland walks around Orchard House which you are free to explore. As the roads are mostly traffic free they are very popular with the owners of the 50 odd horses on the adjacent farm or with the local racehorse owner who regularly exercises his hoses on the “gallop” in the nearby fields.

The countryside here is quite idyllic and this is recognised by the fact that this area is an officially designated Area of Great Landscape Value.

We feel very privileged living here and are delighted when guests have the opportunity to spend some time experiencing the surrounding countryside.
